A M A D I O
Winemakers since 1936
In 1936, an Italian immigrant named Giovanni Amadio commercially registered his "Dry Table Wine". A simple, fruity, well crafted style of wine made out of his cellar in the Adelaide suburb – of what is now called, Campbelltown. So popular amongst the locals, his wine soon found it’s way interstate to shops in Melbourne’s fashionable Lygon Street and was a requested favourite by the annual, touring – Italian Opera Company. Giovanni’s Dry table Wine was successfully produced for many years.
In 1985, with winemaking in his blood, his son, Gaetano Amadio, with the help and support of his family, planted his first 'pilot vineyard' in the pristine Adelaide Hills. Encouraged by the overall quality and refinement of the fruit yielded, subsequent plantings and years of diligent work lead to Gaetano’s premium, Adelaide Hill’s wines gracing the tables of restaurants and household throughout Australia and overseas. As a boutique wine producer, he quickly built an enviable reputation for constantly making award winning wines – becoming the most awarded boutique label in Australia.
Today, following the successful tradition of his father and grand father, Danniel Amadio has created the
A M A D I O range of wines. Sourcing primarily from his family’s Adelaide Hills vineyards, together with limited case production of every wine in the range – to ensure "hands on" standards. Danniel has created a style that typically embraces the best fruit flavours of regional varietals – producing wines of great depth and natural character. The impressive list of trophies and gold medals awarded to A M A D I O wines – vintage after vintage, bears positive testimony to a consistent standard of premium quality – founded on a strong legacy of family winemaking.
